for the Bible tells me so.”
In public speaking, and in private studies, I rejoice in sharing with God’s people what the Bible says about itself. For example, the Bible claims to be the very Word of God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16). Certainly the prophets believed God spoke through them. “Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth” (Jer. 1:9).
The Bible claims its authority to be from heaven. The authority of the Bible is intrinsic and inherent. In no sense is the authority of the Bible derived from human testimony. “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me” (Isa. 1:2).
The Bible claims that it contains no errors. It is inerrant. There are no mistakes in any of its parts. “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalms 19:7).
The Bible says of itself that its words cannot be broken. It is infallible. What it says must come to pass. “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” (Matt. 5:18).
The Bible claims it can be comprehended. While some parts of the Bible are “hard to understand” (2 Peter 3:16), it is clear and can be understood by the ordinary Christians regardless of human intelligence, or academic achievement. Even children can understand doctrinal truths for parents are commanded to teach the Scriptures to their children. “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (Deut. 6:6-7).
The simple person can understand the Bible, and be made wise because spiritual intelligence is not the same as human intelligent quota. “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalms 19:7).
The Bible declares it is necessary. The Bible is necessary to make the soul wise unto salvation. “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 3:15).
The Bible is necessary for sanctification. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17).
The Bible is necessary for knowing the will of God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16).
The Bible claims to be the sufficient, and final voice, through Jesus Christ the Lord. “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds” (Heb. 1:1-2).
No one can reject the Bible and have a right relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ. “As he [Jesus] spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed” (John 8:30-31).
Because of all of these truths, and more, it is not right for a communicator of the Bible to stand up and say, “I have been asked to give my opinion on the Bible, and I want to do that.” The church should demand that they hear from ministers of the gospel who have a divine call upon their lives, and who will speak with the voice of the Lord. “Thus saith the Lord”, is the crying need of the hour in America, for the country has lost its moral, and spiritual bearing. There is objective evidence that God has turned the nation over to a collective reprobate mind. Today, men are legally allowed to prey upon young girls in public restrooms. Children as young as five years of age think they are transgender. They demand to dress as the opposite sex, and woe to the school district that does not allow for this perversion. Foolish are the parents who condone homosexual behavior at any age level, let alone five years of age.
I do not want teachers and preachers telling me their opinion about critical Bible doctrine. I want to know what God says. Let the church pray that God will raise up a new generation of holy and bold prophetic voices saying, “This is the way of the Lord. Walk you in it!” What is certain is that no man or woman should stand up before a congregation of God’s people and say, “This is my opinion.” Speak with wisdom. Speak having studied diligently and throughly the Scriptures. Most of all, peak with divine authority. Speak so that people see Christ. We want to see Jesus.
