Demanding Freedom to Kill a Beating Heart

“…teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children” —Titus 2:4

For her 2021 Lake Highlands School valedictorian speech in White Rock, Texas, Paxton Smith went off-script to demand freedom for all women to kill their own unwanted, unborn child whose heart was beating. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed into law the “Heartbeat Bill” that will go into effect this September. The law prohibits any state resident from getting an abortion if the beating of a heart can be detected.

Smith argued that the bill removes women’s reproductive decisions. “Before they have a chance to decide if they are emotionally, physically and financially stable enough to carry out a full-term pregnancy, before they have the chance to decide if they can take on the responsibility of bringing another human being into the world, that decision is made for them by a stranger,” Smith said, according to a video of the speech published by Dallas TV station WFAA.

The idea that the Heartbeat Bill totally removes a woman’s chance to decide if they can take on the responsibility of bringing another human into the world is blatantly false. Women know how babies are created. If they truly want to be responsible in their intimate behavior, they will either remain chaste and virtuous, or take steps to prevent a pregnancy. Abortion does not prevent pregnancy; it terminates the life of another human being.

Is simply not wanting to act in a responsible manner a good reason to kill a precious unborn baby?

Paxton Smith is the product of a godless secular education that promotes self-centeredness as an epistemology, and sexual freedom without boundaries. The human life in the womb is believed to be an inconvenience, to many women in the modern world.

If a woman allows herself to become pregnant through promiscuity, abortion is an easy solution to many practical concerns. An abortion does not demand accountability, or acceptance of responsible. Personal pleasure, and selfish ambition, is all that matters.

Rather than admit this, the Paxton Smiths of this world shift their personal responsibility, obscure reality, and create a false narrative. “I have dreams, hopes and ambitions,” Smith said. “Every girl here does. We have spent our whole lives working toward our futures, and without our consent or input, our control over our futures has been stripped away from us.”

When godly legislation is passed, such as the Heartbeat Bill, when there is an attempt to protect the unborn, and to give a child a chance at life, the moral fabric of a nation is strengthened.

America should not be repeating the slaughter of the innocent, as Nazi Germans did during World War II. During that terrible time, millions of babies and young children were thrown into the fiery furnaces found in the death camps of that godless regime.

History is repeating itself. Millions of babies are burned to death in American hospitals, and clinics, by medical personnel who inject a saline solution through the abdomen, and into the amniotic sac. Other tiny infants are pulled apart by an aspiration, or suction abortion. Still others are sliced into pieces as their little body parts are scraped from the womb through dilation and curettage. A woman can have an abortion as an outpatient. She can go into a building carrying life in her womb, have her baby murdered, and go home the same day.

That is what Paxton Smith demands as her right. She wants freedom to kill a beating heart. For her position, and for her “courage” to make her demands in public, Paxton Smith was applauded by the Liberal Media in general, and by prominent feminist in particular, such as comedian Sarah Silverman, and former Democratic presidential nominee, Hilary Clinton.

Against the wanton taking of life, stands the Church. The Bible teaches that children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalms 127:3). The Bible says that each child is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Christian women have a tremendous opportunity to speak out against abortion, and then to speak to young women, and teach them “to love their children” (Titus 2:4).

One-way young women can be taught to love their children is by helping them to understand what love will, and will not, do. A study of 1 Corinthians 13 is vital for this teaching.

Another way Christian women can help younger women to love their children, from the moment they detect a beating heart, is to help them understand they are the keeper of the springs of life.

Years ago, Dr. Peter Marshall (1902-1949), former chaplain to the U.S. Senate, told the story of a small town nestled at the foot of a mountain range which was known far and wide for its wonderful pure spring water.  People came from all around to enjoy its delicious taste and to thank the well-known “keeper of the springs” who dedicated his life to keeping the mountain springs clear and clean.  For years he performed this selfless service for the benefit of all who enjoyed the water from the springs.

In time a well-intentioned town council decided to relieve the man of his duties.  They reasoned that his methods of cleaning were outdated and that they could be better accomplished through programs and procedures carefully watched over by agencies under their jurisdiction. The man sadly gave up his labor of love and turned over his work to others of more educated and efficient means.

It was not long before glitches in the technologies of the new water system were noticed.  The water did not taste quite the same; there were particles of questionable content that had never been found in the water before. Adjustments were made but the experiment didn’t work as well as anticipated and the town soon lost its wonderful water and its reputation for excellence.

The women of our society and especially our mothers can be accurately compared to the “keeper of the springs.” Theirs is a labor of love, dedicated to producing in each new generation a pure, value based citizenship. The virtues of integrity, love of liberty, honesty, compassion, and confidence all are facilitated in the early and constant care of a mother’s love. It is upon these virtues and that strong civilizations exist.

Keeping the spring waters of society clear and clean is what mothers do when they instill morals, values, socialization skills, love for learning, compassion for fellowmen in the hearts and minds of our citizens in the early years of life.  When mothers are in the home building families, character is built that sustains cultural prosperity and success.  Likewise, tremendous amounts of social data show that when homes are broken and dysfunctional, society suffers socially, educationally, and financially.  The problems of divorce, devaluation of parenting, declining family time, confusions over sexual identity, promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, abortion, poverty, excessive taxation and below-replacement fertility are worldwide concerns that beset civilizations that are not founded on strong traditional families. Truly our greatest protection against the loss of liberty and quality of life is found inside the walls of our homes where mothers are dedicated to being the “keepers of the springs.”

Dr. Marshall rightly observed “There has never been a time when there was a greater need for keepers of the springs, or when there were more polluted springs to be cleansed. If the home fails, the country is doomed. The breakdown of home life and influence will mark the breakdown of the nation. If the keepers of the springs desert their posts or are unfaithful to their responsibilities, the future outlook of this country is black indeed. This generation needs keepers of the springs who will be courageous enough to cleanse the springs that have been polluted. It is not an easy task — nor is it a popular one, but it must be done for the sake of the children, and the young women of today must do it.”

  1. Gal, YOU had PLENTY of TIME to see if YOU WERE EMOTIONALLY READY when you decided to play with the penis! NO PENIS, NO PREGNANCY! YOU made THAT decision when you refused to be celibate. You probably think guns are dangerous, but you are not intelligent enough to know that ‘free sex’ can be just as dangerous! A careless gun maims or kills, and so do abortion attempts. A WOMAN makes her decision when she decides to have sex–married or not. When will you ignorant people understand that? Our lives are based on DECISIONS, NOT CHOICES. A choice will come ONLY from a decision already made. Decisions are based on knowledge, belief and intelligence. They have FEET. Choices ae like the wind, and you never know which way they will go, land, or their consequences.

God help you, ignorant and immature child. I hope you will call Him and ask HIM what HE thinks. Have NO idea if you are a Christian, but likely NOT. Christ and Satan do not share the same soul. We are also told that if a man/woman have hate/unforgiveness in his/her heart, it is the same as murder, and a ‘murderer shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.’ His Words, not mine.
Thanks so much to the young girl who refuted the ignorant girl’s entitled speech.
